Wondering which of your favorite celebrities got their early acting start on soap operas only to later make their way over to the big screen? Josh Duhamel and Meg Ryan certainly did to name a few and they both went on to have huge movie careers with Josh starring in hits such as the action flick Transformers and Meg in the classic romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally. Check out this list for a few other stars who went from the daytime small screen to the exciting world of blockbuster movies.

Actor Josh Duhamel lit up the big screen in everything from the Transformers saga to the chick flick Life as We Know It but he wasn't always a movie guy. Where was he in his acting career before he hit the big time? From 1999 to 2002, Josh starred on the ABC hit soap opera All My Children in the role of Leo du Pres where he romanced Greenlee Smythe (played by actress Rebecca Budig). He even went on to land a 2003 Daytime Emmy award for that very gig. For those in the gossip know, Josh is also known as the sexy husband of Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie.

Demi Moore on General Hospital

Demi Moore has graced many a tabloid for her much talked about marriage to a younger Ashton Kutcher. But she also has a very impressive resume of movies to be proud of. Demi rocked the screen in everything from St. Elmo's Fire and Ghost to Indecent Proposal and GI Jane, where she famously shaved off her gorgeous long locks for the role. Where did the superstar get her acting start? From 1988 to 1983, Demi starred as General Hospital's Jackie Templeton and the rest as they say, was history.

Kevin Bacon on Guiding Light

While you will definitely recognize the name Kevin Bacon, you might not know that the Golden Globe winner started his acting career on the hit soap opera Guiding Light in 1980. Kevin played the role of Timothy Werner, a teen with an unhealthy penchant for alcohol. Intent on making it big in Hollywood, Kevin left the job at the soap opera after a year to try his hand at movies. That was a smart move and he landed films such as the classic Footloose, Quicksilver, Mystic River, In the Cut, and Apollo 13. He's also married to fellow actress Kyra Sedgewick.

Julianne Moore on As the World Turns

Actress Julianne Moore got her start in Hollywood on the soap opera As the World Turns in the role of Frannie Hughes from 1985 to 1988. Did you know the little bit of trivia that she also played the role of her own half-sister Sabrina on the show? Now that's what I call some serious multitasking. Not surprisingly, Julianne proudly won herself a Daytime Emmy for that gig. Julianne's job at the soap opera launched her career onto the big screen with her in the lead in movies such as Magnolia, Hannibal, The Big Lebowski, Children of Men, and The Kids are Alright.

Ryan Phillippe on One Life to Live

Whether or not he likes it, actor Ryan Philippe might be best known as Reese Witherspoon's ex-husband. His movie credits include Cruel Intentions and The Lincoln Lawyer among others so he does have something else on that resume. But his big break came in 1992 on the soap opera One Life to Live where he played the role of Billy Douglas for about a year. That was most memorable as he was the first gay teenager on daytime soaps.
