Ever since the tragic death of
Princess Diana on that fateful night in August of 1997, people have been aware of the power held by the paparazzi.
These skilled and often sneaky photographers will do whatever it takes to chase down those coveted pictures. While it can prove to be lucrative for the person behind the lens, what about the celebrity on the other side of the camera?
Britney Spears
Singer
Britney Spears has had so much trouble with the paparazzi in the last few years, that some have even blamed them for her troubles. When Britney had her 'breakdown' in February 2007 and
shaved her head in front of the cameras, some say that she did it to get back at them.
After all, it was the photographers who captured those scandalous images of the pop star driving recklessly with her baby on her lap. If nothing else, the constant monitoring could help keep this mother of two somewhat honest.
Lindsay Lohan
Actress/singer
Lindsay Lohan quickly earned herself a reputation in Hollywood as one of the ubiquitous party girls. Before she even celebrated her 21st birthday, she had already been seen drinking to the point of collapse. How can we be so sure she was drinking?
With the help of the paparazzi, we all saw those scandalous images of Lindsay passed out in her friend's car after a long night of partying. Not to mention the video of her throwing up outside the club. Call me cynical, but I'm just going to assume that it wasn't from some bad sushi. She's barely 21 and already has two DUI arrests under her Prada belt.
Paris Hilton
For a while there, singer/actress/model/criminal
Paris Hilton was the most photographed and talked about celebrity. The paparazzi happily followed Paris around for years as she bounced from one LA club to another. That was until she decided to join the ever-growing celebrity DUI club.
When Paris claimed ignorance on the fact that she wasn't allowed to drive on her suspended license, the cameras were on site to capture it all. After spending a measly 23 days behind bars, Paris claims to be a changed woman. Let's leave it up to the photographers to prove if that story holds any water.
